White Border Announcement
We understand your concerns, and we appreciate your passion about the game. We at FFG believe that the future of the Call of Cthulhu card game looks strong. We feel that it's appropriate to fully embrace the LCG format as a complete rebirth of the game.
We appreciate the enthusiasm you've shown for the Call of Cthulhu CCG, and will continue to do everything in our power to make the Call of Cthulhu LCG a product that inspires the same level of passion. We really appreciate how you've stuck by us. We're doing everything we can to grow this game, giving you more players to game with and making the game more exciting than ever.
While we won't be changing the game's established mechanics, we do feel that the game deserves a brand new start. Moving forward, we are doing our best to give the game this fresh start, and an important part of this effort involves giving the game a fresh, new look. In order to rejuvenate the game, and show undeniable proof that it is a new game, we feel it's appropriate to have an immediate visual difference with the look of the cards, on the fronts and on the backs.
For this reason, moving forward, the cards will have white borders. The white borders signify that the cards are a part of the new Call of Cthulhu card game — a game with a rich history, but one that has been reborn under the Living Card Game model.
In addition to the two Asylum Packs that will be released by Gencon, the Core Set's release in October will be followed by a six month run of monthly Asylum Packs, and the card pool for Call of Cthulhu will be expanding much more rapidly than it has been. This will allow ample room for all players, new and old, to experience this exciting new beginning for the Call of Cthulhu card game.
The Core Set features reprints of older cards, and a number of them have been modified with an eye towards the future of the game. The new borders will help new and old players differentiate between the updated versions of cards and the older, CCG versions, and this will be important in helping new players get into the LCG with minimal confusion regarding older card errata.
